We managed to almost save a match that, given our batting collapse, we probably should have lost easily. The final fixture of the 2007 season saw us away to Gawcott and Hillesden CC.
The competition for the batting award of the 2007 season proved to be a very close one. In the end, a rejuvenated Pete Allen, claimed the trophy after an excellent season. Improved fitness and sacrificing tobacco both seemed to propel him to the heights of which he told us he was capable. Well done Pete! With his final figure of 34.75, he just pipped Andre Bodily who mustered a very creditable 33.00.
This week we have a little bonus. There will be an extra "match report". Straight after the final fixture we repaired to to the Robinsons' where Dave and Clare laid on a barbecue for the club. Not a bad effort by Dave after keeping wicket and batting. (Well he told us he'd done it but we suspect that Clare had more than a hand in the preparations. Thank you Clare.)
This season's match reports are available here as are the final league tables.
Please remember all league matches begin at 2.00 p.m.
And now ... a little treat. This year's team photo - taken once again at Hinton-in-the-Hedges. Apologies to those who have been regulars but were not there for the photo. There is only one thing to say to them: "Why weren't you available?". We don't accept lame excuses like, "It's my wife's birthday", or "I had to go shopping". (Actually we do, but we make the player suffer for it afterwards.)
